  • 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate melting wafers, optional

Instructions

  1. Drain maraschino cherries, chop them into bite-sized pieces, and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream together butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add sugar until pale and airy.
  4. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and reserved cherry juice.
  5. Slowly combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture; fold in chopped cherries.
  6. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F; line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop dough onto the baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes until edges are golden.
