- 2 pounds top sirloin or ribeye steak (trimmed and sliced thin)
- 4 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 large yellow onion (chopped)
- 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
- 8 slices mild provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls (sliced)
- Vegetable oil
- Butter
- Mayonnaise
- Minced garlic
- Coarse Kosher salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Chill the steak in the freezer for 30 minutes for easier slicing. Slice thinly and season with salt and pepper.
- Slice onions and hoagie rolls lengthwise.
- Mix softened butter with minced garlic; spread on hoagie rolls and toast until golden.
- Sauté onions in oil until caramelized; remove from skillet.
- Increase heat, add oil, cook steak for 2-3 minutes without moving for a good sear. Flip and cook for another minute before adding onions back into the skillet.
