  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or rosemary)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, softened butter, flour, and salt to the mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic; cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
  3. Meanwhile, melt butter in a pan over medium heat and sauté minced garlic for about 2 minutes. Stir in herbs and set aside.
  4. Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface; brush with garlic herb butter and sprinkle cheese evenly.
  5. Roll tightly into a log; slice down the center to expose filling and twist halves together.
  6. Place in a greased baking pan; let rise again for about 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), brush with egg wash, and bake for about 35–40 minutes until golden.
